The first post! (finally)

Welcome to the blog that I have finally managed to create (unfortunately, my procrastination sometimes overwhelm me). This is just an informative post where I will briefly explain to you what I will be posting here throughout the semester.

As you can see, the title of this blog indicates that I will supposedly write here about historical music. The fact is that most likely I will be sharing here some pieces of interesting information about medieval culture, literature, habits, and so forth. The name of this blog just refers to the quite popular meme existing in the depths of the Internet, that's it. Nonetheless, I plan to share my thoughts about medieval music in the future as well.

But why the Middle Ages?

Because I find this exceptionally long period the most interesting in human history! (10 centuries that's something, huh?). In addition, from my observations, it appears that people perceive these times as terribly boring and only God-oriented. In fact, I thought so too because that was how the Middle Ages has been explained in high school, during Polish language classes. However, my perception of it has changed after the literature lectures in the first semester of my Romance studies. That was when I realized how medieval literature was various in themes. Not only the Almighty was in the center of their poems. They also survived those that tell about heathen culture, monstrous creatures, and great heroes! The other fact, why I am so into the Middle Ages is that I keen on fantasy books and video games when the action takes place in quasi-medieval surroundings.

The first post will be about one of the greatest (and the earliest) works of English literature - the story of Beowulf which has fascinated me recently.

I hope this blog will be interesting to someone!

The Bayeux Tapestry meme for the attention.
